You come across something that possibly needs doing.

Finished the rear brakes, the handbrake needed adjusting so it held equally on both sides, and replaced the anti-rattle springs for new ones, on the pads.
Also greased up the rear brake lines, I reckon they should pass the MOT ok next month.

Anyway on to the oil/filter change, done that and sorted the iffy drain plug, nice and tight now.

When I removed the cover plate (on the under tray) for the oil change I found a nut in there. I wondered where it has come from. I removed under tray partially but couldn't see where it may have dropped  from.
Stuck it all back together and everythings fine.
Worried about this nut though, on closer examination it is the same as my exhaust manifold fixing nuts on the 2.2.
Question is would they be the same on the TD exhaust manifold as on the 2.2 petrol engine. I haven't looked there yet.

I changed mine yesterday using the following method.
Chock front wheels very safely.
Handbrake off.
Jack rear off car up as high as you can and then support it with axle stands and also place wheels under the car.
Undo lower shock mount.
undo 13mm nut/bolt on droplink.
Using a long lever of some description (a scaffold bar about a metre long is perfect) lever the suspension arm down from the chassis to allow the spring to be taken out.
Lever the arm down again to fit he new spring,then reassemble in reverse order.
Removing and refitting the springs is easier if you have a second pair of hands to either operate the lever or remove/replace spring.
I didn't,but it would have been easier if I had.
I jacked up,and changed spring one side at a time.      Hope that helps.

Much easier if you drop the rear diff on a trolley jack and also undo the rear exhaust rubber hangers.Makes the spring almost fall out and replacing is as easy.

Only a few mnore bolts to undo and do up but much less grief than wedging bars etc in ...imho

And dont forget it needs to be in neutral with the handbrake OFF.

I found it much quicker without bothering to drop the diff tbh,even working by myself.It took less than an hour and a half to change both. Each to their own though.
