Been mulling it over with MotherT & FatherT, as the Estate is a damn useful car, we plan to keep it for a while yet, so opted to re-boot it at WIM, as it needs to be taken up Norf in a couple of weeks so not much time.

WIM are fitting Kumo K39's (as they do not make KU31's any more) for £95 a corner fitted

I've got KU31s on 2.2. Done fair bit of miles on them, I like them. Smooth, low noise grip appears good. (For normal driving)

Ran KU31's one time on my DTi, very impressed with them, but as you say - no longer available
