Option (2 pic) Sounds best option to me $:-\$

Option (3 pic) Too random heat guessing,and random heat spots on a PCB $:-\$

Insulate vulnerable components...mount it flat.....reflux with (no clean flux and go for the bake)

If all fails. bin it
