2.2 hesitant cold, fine hot

Y188NFA petrol 2.2 saloon manual
My son Ben's car. In June EML (engine block, not spanner) was on, so I investigated. Found oil in plug holes, so changed cam cover gasket, cleaned breathers, cleaned coil pack, changed plugs. Light remained on. MOT chum put on his Snap On tester, it said cam sensor. He switched off EML light. It then passed MOT. Then EML came on again, so I changed cam sensor for genuine VX part, but 'special price' as it had been put on another car first. Fault still present. Son complains that now first thing in the morning car starts, but power very low until it warms up. After that it is fine all day.

Any ideas?
