My LPG - the story continues...!
« on: 24 May 2008, 15:48:55 »

for the time being, my car is now not for sale!!

After the constant failure of the garage to try to fix my lumpy idle and the EML coming on at low rev cruising, I was told by the guy at the garage that his latest plan was to drill the injectors to 7mm instead of 6mm what they're allegedly at, and told to bring it in saturday (today) so in I go, I cant find the regular guy but i see a guy working on another car, he has a computer hooked up and he's faffing with LPG on a Volvo, I approach him and say "Hi, are you steve?" and he says "yes" and I said "I'm Danny, with the omega!" thinking he'd be thinking "again??"

how surprised do you think I was to learn that this guy, who'd apparently worked on my car and had made decisions about altering the LPG mixtures and re-drilling injectors and modifying this that and the other, had never actually seen my car???!!!

he said "i see a lot though, i probably just dont remember it!" and I said "believe me you'd remember it, it's been in here about 15 times in the last two months, and on 2 occasions for 2 full weeks!"

this guy is fantastic though, he immediately dropped tools, popped the bonnet and hooked up his computer to play about with the LPG and to recalibrate it, he also had a tech 2 and discovered no fault codes AT ALL, just basically the fact that my car doesn't like the LPG set up that the first guy had done.

he said it sounded like it was misfiring on one of the cylinders (but not at all when on petrol) but either way, i explained to him that there's no way i'd be selling it if it was running perfectly and efficiently as it should, and he's gonna COMPLETELY refit the kit and not stop til it hits "perfection". he's recently done a 3.2 ex plod which incidentally is running perfect. if i'd seen this guy alot sooner I doubt i'd have had so much trouble! (here's hoping!)

I shall keep you updated if anyone wants an interesting read ::)

on the bright side, i've not had to pay anything!

it'll remain to be seen, i await his phone call to tell me when i can take it in, he said it should be done in a day (since everything is pretty much already there!)

it'll then be back up for sale. our entire front garden is being paved and will fit 4 cars on it, and since my replacement car has been secured, i might have space to keep it if mine doesnt sell in time
