Is nothing easy ??
« on: 04 September 2013, 15:57:16 »

Full of joy and hope collected new cam shaft sensor, only to be told that a mod was done and also need new loom at £10,0000 each  :'( also told that if I have 3 pin loom I am ok. Got home and going slightly out of sequence removed the sensor lead which popped of a treat, deep joy nice 3 pin loom, came to fit it and now way will it fit.  The new sensor has a collar that protrudes above the pins by at least 1/4" the old one collar finishes level with the pins.

They now are getting the loom in to see what fits and what does not.  part numbers on the sensor packing are GM#24445139
62 38 187
GR 5 5191
anyone know if that is correct for 2.0l

quicker to get new car LOL

Is it a 2 litre? I had the same problem if so. You can probably get a sensor on e-bay to fit, but they don't work so well. Otherwise, you could buy the current sensor and swop over the connectors.

yes 2.0l BUT the new style connector is £52, did toy with it and doing as you said BUT no guarantee it would work, it seems as if the conversion kit is designed to be fitted by GM, it has 6 leads coming from it and no instructions as to location.

Did think about ebay but as you say chancy and having had this one cut out on me at speed don't want to go there.

So think it is about all over now.  Got a full refund on all the parts bought so far so not bad.

The GM cam sensor used to come with a new length of loom, what shape is the connector?

It is oval to suit long neck of sensor but it is a kit of parts nothing at all assembled and as to location of the six leads !!!!!!

Being serious though. They aren't the kind of things people are going to want or need very often.
