I recently decorated and fitted a new carpet. In the process I managed to destroy the telephone cable connecting my sky box. I phoned sky but, as usual, the guy was clueles and tried to send me a router to bt socket cable.
I got this from amazon:

but it the sky box still tells me there is no phone line connected.
Does anyone know which one I should be buying?

PS. The reason I need to connect is for purchases from sky store, it won't let me proceed without a connected phone line.

Can leave it unplugged, my old 1TB Sky+HD box at my parents has not had a phone line connected since about 2009. I managed to get on the trial for the 2TB one, that's never had a phone line connected....

Unless you do pay-per-view fights or box office, it's not something that's needed. As when you "buy" something, it goes off to check your account is not debt/shut down.

Not so, Mr T. Not according to my box anyhow. It threw it's toys last night and refused to play any recordings. Had to do a full system reset and now I've lost them all.
