2.2 dti fuel pump
« on: 29 October 2013, 09:57:52 »

Is it possible to obtain a good replacement fuel pump (0470504016) without robbing the bank for £1k or more.
Car cant be worth more than £1800 (2002 elite ). Seems a crying shame to scrap it it's too good. I have even replaced the Bose with a modern 7" screen all singing hifi and sat nav. A worth while job despite the no-no's on this forum and the work involved- but hey I'm an enthusiast with time to do it- just not as young as I used to be!!!
But help need a pump at not too much cost -anyone help?

The actual pump is quite reliable, its the electrics strapped to the top which go wrong, have a look on ecutesting.com as I believe they offer a repair service :y

had that done by ecutesting -came back perfect. Diags suggested critical pump failure. Have changed crank sensor but still same. Ex Vauxhall man insists its the pump. Ther's nothing else to try - unless someone knows better.
Car sometimes starts but shuts off when above about 85 degrees. Suspects fuel solenoid shuts down as engine just stops.
Have been told that a disc inside the pump gets grooves worn in it which upsets the ecu and it shuts down.
Cars only done 120k. my landrover (120k) worksevery time.

Hi,

Sorry to hear the problems you are having, whilst I am a relatively new member I wonder whether you could buy a spare/repairs Omega and pinch the fuel pump from that car. I don't have the experience of the long termer on here and they could advise whether the fuel pump is coded to the car or not, their is a car near Goole on ebay (it isn't my car btw) which has a blown turbo, perhaps you could raid the pump from that? Seems a shame to have to get rid of the big beast given a known (albeit expensive) issue.

Is the EML light on? If so, have you had the codes read?
