Looks like it is time for a new cooker hood, which will make the rest of the kitchen look old, so you might as well cut to the chase and replace the whole lot with new decor. 

PS: It might even fix your faulty plumbing so your kitchen tap works when you turn it on rather than having to turn on the cloakroom tap to do that.
