Indoor skiing tonight
« on: 27 November 2013, 10:52:27 »

It's my turn to take Miss Nickbat and her school friend to the Snow Centre at Hemel tonight. It's the last pre-holiday training session arranged by her school and it lasts 2 hours.

I foolishly decided that, rather than hang around for two hours..or go home and then go all the way back, I would get on the slope as well. :-X

I used to go skiing in Austria every year, and sometimes even glacier skiing in the summer, but I last donned the skis (210cm!!!) about 20 years ago. :o

They say it's like riding a bike — you never forget.

Hope that's true.... ;)

I thought that on me snow board after a couple of years away, then promptly wiped out 3 people at the bottom of the slope. ;D

(They left me nowhere to go to be fair)

Yep, it's like riding a bike indeed. But getting on one after 20 years is just as hard work!

Good snow at Hemel, much better than MK Snow Zone. Did a session there couple of years ago before I went to the Alps.

Remember to control the speed, it's a very short run!

Well had a fantastic 2 hours of skiing, with no falls! :y :y

Legs ache a bit now. Goodness knows what they will be like in the morning. ;)

In all honesty, the only near-miss I had tonight was a snowboarder who had no idea where I was.  ::)

Maybe it's me, but it seems snowboarders do not have the breadth of vision that skiers do — probably because always they go down hills sideways looking down at their board.  ;) ;) :-X ;D

Your safer crashing into a snowboarder though. They only have one lethal weapon attached, as opposed to one on each limb. ;)
