Appreciate your advice?

Only one answer to that... No.

Better off with either a Disco 3 or Range Rover :y

A neighbour bought one shortly after I bought my R Class. It was sold very soon afterwards, after it'd had £2000+ spent on the engine .....  :o :o

I saw one "demonstrating" at the Sydney motor show one year in an outside arena. The trouble was, there was a new disco, a range rover, a shogun or something, a couple of other off roaders of one sort or another, and they just.. Highlighted how crap the '5 was!

One word - Useless!!!

We have them for the motorway and have on occasion had to use em off-road, rather embarrassing when a tatty old L Reg. Defender had to come to our rescue & the vehicle that we tried to rescue.  :-[

They don't move too quickly either, I think the early ones were single turbo 3.0 lumps which on motorway response were very slow. The newer ones we're getting are the twin-turbo variety and reports are better.

Unless you put huge wheels on them and then they become as stuck as the rest of us.  ;)

My neighbour has a 'Sport' with bling wheels and ridiculously low profiles and he can't get up the hill by us in snow with these wheels on. My son has towed him up the hill many a time. If my neighbour fits his smaller wheels on with higher profile tyres he gets up there with no problems. This is also the X5's biggest problem but they'd look un-cool with skinny small wheels.  ;D
You've only got to look at the farm Landies to understand this.  :y
