Here is a nice Internet company scam (I think)
« on: 11 December 2013, 22:27:57 »

My folks are well retired.

They get an amazing amount of junk mail every day and phone calls despite me making sure they are on the pref mailing list.

They receive a mailer from New Call offering this and that and bin it.

At some stage they may or may not have had a phone call from them asking them to switch. They wouldn't as they are quite happy with BT.

Next thing is they get a call from BT retention team today. Do you really want to switch to New Call? We would rather you stay with us. Go onto our BT Infinity. OK says my Dad today. The engineer is coming on the 20th.

The engineer is coming on 20th to install.  Buy shares in BT, that is another customer locked in for a further 12 months.

I wonder if the engineer will re route the lead from the router (hub?) to the PC from under the hall carpet???

I think you will find that is miss selling, report it to trading standards, that is what they are there for. All the utility are scum in conning people to switch as can be seen from the large fines many have received through complaints and getting caught. Many of them run the banks a close second when it comes to disreputable practices.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

It is known as Slamming and it is illegal.  I would be playing havoc with the company who tried this on.

I have had an overnight thought on this. Might just have been a call from BT infinity sales team referring to the mailer that I am sure my folks would have mentioned. hard to get to the truth.

Either way, I am not too bothered. Much better for them to be with BT. Think how much faster their Email will now be on Infinity!
