Just to be sure

Hunting this "headlight warning error" and hope I have now eliminated most potential faults.

After good advise from Taxi Al have established that when parked around 3.0mtrs from wall on level ground ,headlights are turned on and then ignition both of the beam patterns move very slightly which I am assumimg means the motors inside both lights are working.

Attached a cheapo code reader which brought up fault code 3410 and advised low voltage to front headlight level sensor so just awaiting receipt of replacement then hopefully the problem will be resolved.

Quetion is about the headlight movement...should this really only be a very slight movement when ignition turned on ..more of a "jump" but both lights are doing the same.

My vectra cdx and the omega mv6 both do what I would call a sweep. Not a jump or small movement. Probably 18" sweep at 3m. With the vectra I used to be troubled by the field of vision warning on the mid, the fault was always low supply voltage on the lefthand lamp. I hardly used the car and it would often sit for 10 days without being started. Eventually I put a new battery on it and traced a parasitic drain and I've never had the warning since, in conclusion I think good battery voltage is essential with the system. If you don't have that then you're throwing good money after bad.
In your case its the sensor showing a fault so you may well crack it with the replacement sensor.

Neither of my Omegas move much at switch on, not like beemers etc.

Be careful with fault codes in this ECU, as as stated above, this specific ECU is very touchy about voltage. I can almost guarantee that if a HID equipped Omega (or Vec-B, same ECU on the CDXs) hasn't seen a Tech2 for a couple of years, the headlight levelling ECU will be full of voltage related fault codes.
