I phone kit
« on: 15 January 2014, 19:16:43 »

Hi all

Does anyone know if it possible to fit an I phone kit to a standard omega stereo?

I want to be able to listen to my music on the phone plus make call via speakers and charge my phone. Do t want much lol  :D

I don't really want to change the standard radio but if I did would I still be able to use the buttons on the steering wheel and get info display on dash to work?

Thanks for any help

You can get a hard wired FM transmitter / charger which after tuning your radio into a preset frequency (I used 88.0) you can play your music from about 35 quid.
The one I use is pretty good quality wise.
I then use a Bluetooth headset if i'm using the phone side.
Never seen a unit which is compatible with a omega head unit that does both.

I fitted a parrot mki9200 handsfree kit to my elite. This particular kit can either be used via Bluetooth or has multiple connections to attach either USB, iPhones/iPads etc.

Excellent kit and will play all your music through the car speakers and will auto mute the music if your phone rings!!

Cool thanks for the help,
I think I will go the Parret route as have used them in the past and didn't realise the new ones did do much more.

If its an Elite, Parrotts aren't suitable.

Hi Pete,

I know your more knowledgeable compared to me technically, but I've fitted this to my Vectra C Elite and now fitted it to my 03 Omega elite without any issues of any kind.

Without wanting to sound bloody minded, why do you say they are not compatible?  ??? :y

Excuse me if I'm being stupid as this is my first omega. What is an elite as don't know if mine is or not. Mine is a 2.6 v6 CDX.   Reg is HX02 FHC if that helps.

To answer the Q though, wrong output levels, wrong response curves and I believe wrong impedence.

So am I causing damage to the system then?  I'm not doubting what you said, but I've not had any issues or anything? ???
