Yes I understand the intended logic of the argument but sinically I'm not prepared to believe that whatever they pay out they'll get back with interest from you.

What about this element of the cost of insurance.  Because of my proximity to the B11 post code where apparently according the the BBI circa 50% of cars are uninsured... I GET TO PAY EXTRA for the increased liklihood that I'll come in to contact with THEM!

I'd go on but it would just be ranting for its own sake.  Why bother to enforce the law when you can get actual plebs to pay up instead... >:(

Two cars had an off side coming together outside our house.
One car spun round and caught the bumper of my car which was parked on the pavement.
The car is a Vectra Estate, the bumper popped off the clips and it gouged and scratched the paint and cracked the back light.
The accident wrote off the other two cars which means a big insurance claim.
If I claim off the insurance the odds are they will right off my 02 Vectra which to be honest is worth about £500.
I have done a fair bit of work on it and don't want to lose it. I have a £300 excess which means I would get a couple of hundred pounds if they paid out, even though I would eventually get my excess back.
Because of the write off of the other cars the driver has said deal with the insurance company.
I have decided to swallow the bill and repair it myself.

Sadly the best financial long term solution....  Not fair that your pride and joy should be written off for a few quid and for absolutely no fault of yours.  crappy system I'd say...

Just a thought that being parked on the path, you probably weren't really insured as I recon if they wanted to they'd say bye-law XXX ...driving or keeping of a vehicle on the pavement... :(

Keep up the good fight :-\

Being not your fault, your excess is irrelevant... doesn't mean they won't write the car off. :'(

Self repairing is the best way around that... Keep receipts for your repair costs, ie parts and materials etc. Make sure you car is noted as involved, and explain to third party insurers that you will be claiming for your costs which have directly resulted from their insured, and go from there :y
