It only happens to me on OOF
« on: 22 January 2014, 20:25:05 »

Seeing adverts again, some words are written in blue and if you hover over them they show an add. This has happened before but I have forgotten how to get rid........ ::) ::)

I have logged out and back in again, logged out of the internet and  back in, done a re-start and a scan which came back without an issue; it only happens on oof not on any other forum - had to join a couple to check......... ;) ;) :D

Any thoughts?

Local browser hijack.  Antimalware scan or av scan may help, or manually disable add-ons.

Nothing server side to put in ads.  Despite the fact this would help us cover costs, we are against the idea, so we haven't implemented any such scheme.

Thus has to be local browser (or proxies, if you go via them, but it would be a brave ISP that added ads to their proxies)

IE is Settings > Manage Add-ons
FF is under the preferences, there is a bit on add-ons (not got FF on this laptop to check exact wording)
Chrome - uninstall it, and promise to never reinstall it again. Ever.
