Wave theory was used to work out that variable speed limits would speed up traffic on the M25.

My experience of UK driving when a lane is blocked is one of two reactions;

1, Everybody joins the open lane 4 miles before it is actually closed lane is reached, which is great cus im going to drive down it to the cones.

2, The old fella sees me in his mirror 2 miles before the merge and blocks both lanes.

result, one empty lane for 2 miles..

For once no traffic jams on trip to Manchester and back today - 3 hours each way. Life is good when it is clear - no kids or grandkids in car, no Mrs, no stopping, no whingeing. Music - what I want and nice sound level.
