Yes mate, she loved it, thanks!

Of course mate.... it should have cost around £100 but it cost us nothing!  ;D Basically I was standing in a pub in town and I was drinking Guinness. This flight attendant looking crew walked in and were looking for people drinking the black stuff. They collared me and were banging on about competitions (I thought yeah whatever lol). The main prize was the Ireland v England game (rugby) with private jet flights to Dublin and back. Didn't win that sadly but I won this red-letter day voucher for £125 instead. And I donated it to mummy bear  :y

Anyway, when looking on the red letter day website to book it there's lots of different offers and such and you could do the Aston Martin one really cheap (around £49). But we particularly wanted Silverstone and that was where the expense came in.

She got 3 laps around the international circuit.

I was really impressed with her for two reasons:

1.) She hasn't driven a manual car in years and only realised on the day it was manual as I'd assumed it would be flappy paddle ::)
2.) She came round on lap 2 just in front of a white Ferrari.... when they came round again it had overtaken her but she was right up his 'arris  ;D

All in all a great day out and I'd recommend it  :y

I've got a single seater voucher at Silverstone, courtesy of my old employer. Had options of Astons, Ferraris etc, but thought single seater is something I'm unlikely to get the opportunity again (unlike my big bro, who managed to get a drive in an F1, lucky bastard)

Might wait until drier days though :)

Yeah, there were single seaters on the ''inside'' track. Quite a few people span off  :o

They looked relatively quick.

How on Earth did he get in an F1 car???

Fair play to your Mum for giving it a go.  :y

I did the Silverstone Experience in a Ferrari Modena last year.  :y  It was an experience but not really as thrilling as I expected, I'm sure those cars are down tuned.  :-\
Single seater is competitive so probably much more exciting, although I would probably go for the damage waiver due to the closeness of other vehicles. It's much more fun on a bike though.  ;)

I wish I could get in a single seater. ;D
SWMBO used to work for Tom Walkinshaw and at the 25th anniversary bash they had an Arrows F1 car and a lady got stuck in it, took three chaps to extract her from the cockpit. ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like you and mum had a great day out :y

He's a lucky, jammy bugger. He's always away on jollies, usually with the celebs or doing stuff we'd kill for.

They flew him to Spain, sat him in some single seaters to get used to them, before sending him around the F1 track in an F1 car.

Well worth the wait - did half a season in single seaters years back, and quite a few laps in an F1 Williams (Mansells car) also a few years back.  Don't be too heavy with right boot - they tend to go as fast backwards as forwards ;)

Back when I was an unwashed student (like Tunnie) I worked at Outlon Park and the 'bonus' every year was a racing school voucher.  First year was 5 laps learning the track in an M3 and then moving to a single seater.  The second year was rally school.  I was looking forward to the 3rd year but then a disagreement meant I no longer worked for them :-X
