Rough idle & Stalling
« on: 16 February 2014, 17:21:36 »

My 3.0 V6 has a very poor idle from cold which has become much worse.

When starting from cold the car struggles to idle and improves only marginally after the secondary air pump has done its business.

If I try to drive off soon after starting there is almost no power at all. As if you have forgotten to pull the choke out (if you can remember that far back).

Today, the car would just stall intermediately form cold. Even keeping my foot to the floor did not help. Eventually, repeated starting and full throttle got the car to keep alive and when warm it idled fine.

I have done the paperclip test to reveal the following fault codes:-

31 No Engine RPM Signal
39 oxygen sensor 1 voltage too high

Earlier in the day the below fault codes were present:-

19 crankshaft sensor
38 oxygen sensor 1 voltage too low

The crankshaft sensor was changed only a year ago Bosch (90540743).

The idle control valve and the EGR valve were also replaced within the last month.

Could anyone shed any light on this please?

Many thanks :y

Andy :-\

My 2.2 cd petrol just did this exact thing after changing the HG ... unplug the maf sensor and see if it runs better. Worth a try and costs nothing to test. Not sure about the V6 but the 2.2 uses the same maf as a zaffy and you can get them from the breakers for £15

UPDATE

Having tried to start the car again - it will start - idles roughly - but then stalls.

No matter what throttle input - it stalls.

This is a nightmare as it means I can't move the car to get it on some ramps! >:(

Any thoughts anyone? :'(

have you tried to unplug the mass airflow sensor to see if it runs?

Yes - disconnected it but no improvement - or worsening - of the symptoms  :-\
