remote desktop software
« on: 17 March 2014, 18:40:53 »

I'm wanting to remotely control a computer from another room via my home LAN - but have the display on both a local monitor (laptop), and on the remote computer - or even better if I can swap between one or the other (or both)
The inbuilt remote desktop thing in XP doesn't allow dual displays (AFAICT), although it does allow sound to be split.

Can anyone suggest an alternative that will?
If it could run on a raspberry pie, that would be better still.

Thanks

VNC, Teamviewer are both free. Logmein is becoming chargable very soon, and a host of other commercial solutions.

Hmmm, Teamviewer *may* lock the local screen (would need to check). VNC is universally shite, but will work with RPi, and be "OK"ish on a fast LAN connection

Net meeting should do that in xp.

Not used it for a fair while though so only about 90% sure.

Netmeeting requires both ends to set up connection, and is now defunct anyway. Plus is XP only.
