I'm about to do some work on my Omega 2.5 TD Estate PFL year 1996, the car has traveled 400.000Km, now I want to replace the water pump and thermostat on and wondered if he should also replace the Visco clutch given that I will work in that area and considering the years that if the car was still effective in his work.

Your English is perfectly understandable

I wouldn't replace the viscous mechanism on the cooling fan unless the original one has failed - you should hear it "roar" when revving engine when the engine is hot. If it roars from cold, or never roars, its probably failed.

I never replaced on mine, as I found that fan was not required. I simply removed the fan, relying on the electric ones instead.

No, we do not makes any noise when running. My doubt is whether after all these years and the kilometers traveled is more efficient? The Visco clutch is a component of long-lived?

Virtually every one I've ever seen has failed.

Another test, get it up to temp, and gently put the end of a rolled up newspaper into the fan. It should shred the paper.  Obviously, use extreme caution!

If it has failed, and you don't tow, try the car with the viscous fan entirely removed, and see if the car does really need it.
