Ways to waste £100 on a bank holiday...
« on: 20 April 2014, 19:44:52 »

... number 1 :

Drive 460mile round trip to see a supposedly perfect low mileage Vx Omega in South Wales only for the lying toe rag time wasting ____ to not bother being in / answering his phone.   >:( >:( >:( >:(

Afor mentioned toe rag then rings up "sorry yada yada infeasible made up _______ excuse, I'll bring the car to you honest I will".  Ok, crack on.   Doesn't turn up.  Shocking.  >:(  ::)

So a word of caution... Before you waste your valuable time don't go to Neath to purchase a 42k mile Silver Vx Omega anytime soon!    :y

It's not a new phenomenon.
Over 20 years ago, I spent one Saturday running my sister's boyfriend around to look at 3 different cars.
We drove to Greenwich to look at an affordable mk1 Golf GTi. Bit scruffy, but only running on 3 cylinders. It smoked and rattled too. Utter heap of crap.
So we drove round to Croyden to look at a V6 Capri. Filler in the roof wasn't a good sign, and evidence of the front and rear being brazed together wasn't difficult to spot underneath. Two cars badly joined together; dangerous crap.
Finally we headed to Guildford to look at an 'immaculate' 131sport. This was so bad, we didn't even get out of the car!

I've been reasonably lucky, in that although I've looked at some utter wrecks that weren't as advertised, I haven't actually driven far to look at them. I did nearly fly to Glasgow to buy a late '30s Minx with Hunter engine and box, with the plan of driving it home. Fortunately I came to my senses before making the arrangements.

It's still on the list of viable candidates, however it doesn't fit the ideal specification not being a 3.0 / 3.2 and I'm yet to sell my car.  ;)
