Outside edges can be below 1.6mm, as long as tread can still be seen (which it can) then its legal  :y

As long as the central 75% is above 1.6 mm and no cords are showing :y

On those 235 width tyres, that's the outer 29mm on both sides :y

But with the shape those have worn, you might struggle to legally establish where the sidewall ends and the tread begins :-\

The tread has definitely worn through in places. Besides, even if they are/aren't legal, they're spent, and need replacing.

Weirdly, that outside area is 'lumpy', not having a smooth circumference, which I would have thought would have been felt at the wheel. For some reason, that specific car has always made a good job of masking any issues that would have the highly strung TBE whinging about.

The answer to the poll was a shade over 20k...   ...so a fair bit down on the 24k I used to get from the TT's

That's quite impressive. Judging by the way my KU39s are disappearing they won't make it anywhere near that mileage, and I don't have anything like the number of roundabouts on my commute.

The rears only managed about 10k (I'd need to double check how long they did last).

14,700 from my fronts so far. The costco ones you might recall ....?


So yes I'd give TB his figure (...combined over both tyres ;D )
