2/3 Button Remote
« on: 25 June 2014, 09:52:13 »

Hello Peeps,
I have a 2001 (Y) 2.2l 16v Auto Estate CDX
This came equipped with 2 x 2 Button remote controls.
Is it possible to get the 3 Button remote to work the boot release?

I have removed the blank at the bottom right of the fascia and it appears to have a pre-wired socket.
However when I press the button (Ign On/Off) nothing happens!

Does it need activating in the "Brain" or is there something else I need to do?

Can't find anything in the guides apart from 2/3 Button Remote descriptions.

I know this may seem 'ANAL' but it is what it is  ;D ;D ;D

Regards Dave...............

Only the saloon has a boot lock with electric release. I'm guessing some of the saloon wiring is there in the estate, but it won't do anything, unfortunately.

I thought the estate tailgate could be set to unlock with the doors. :-\

I think the OP wanted it to open, not just unlock.

In theory it's doable, but...

There's no wiring from the dash/central locking ecu to the tailgate for the release mechanism.
There's no mounting for the release mechanism in the tailgate.
Even when unlatched, the tailgate won't raise up unaided until you have lifted it up about 18", so you might as well press the lock button on the handle whilst you've put your stuff down to lift the tailgate open ::)

@ Figureman52
Correct the tail-gate does indeed lock/unlock with the central locking  :y

@ TheBoy
You are also right I did want to adapt the tail-gate to actually open with the button on the dash or the remote.
As it is the tail-gate has a secondary catch (much like the bonnet) I assume for safety as the boot floor is level with the bottom of the tail-gate (i.e. There isn't a 'Lip' to stop anything from rolling out).

Ta for your help everyone, it is much appreciated  :D
