Cam Cover gasket and O rings – best price
« on: 04 July 2014, 12:55:17 »

Hoping to get my breather pipes cleaned and cam cover gasket replaced soon.

Obviously after reading on here I'll be looking at genuine Vauxhall parts. Is there anywhere on here to get them and save a few pennies in the process.

Thanks

Last I looked a trade club card allows a few quid off, if there's a member with tc near by.

But, as the seals are not actually on trade club, they only give trade prices which is not as good a saving typically. I guess it depends of you know a trade club member here that will get them for you locally, and the cost and logistics of meeting up.

What amazes me is the price of the gaskets. I believe for genuine parts we are talking £50-£60 at RRP.

I imagine that the cost of producing  these gaskets is mere pennies.... :-\

`O` rings are important to change too , a lot of people forget about those  ;)

What is current price for a full set of genuine c/c gaskets then ? o rings included i expect ?

If i go to the dealers and say cam cover gasket and O rings, I trust they will know what O rings I'm talking about or is there a more accurate description.

Given your location I would suggest W.J.Kings as I have used them for years and find them to be pretty fair with prices and delivery etc. :y

Might even get them at trade if you mention Auto-Bahnstormmers as we have an account with them so you might be lucky  ;) and they wont ask much more  ;)

If you are not in a great hurry I am happy to get them on Trade for you .

You will require 2 sets of cam cover gaskets..90511451...
16 x 0 rings for bolts.. 90411826
and a tube of Black RTV sealant ..90485251

In addition you WILL require a torque wrench capable of going down to 8nm for the camcover securing bolts as it is critical these are not over tightened  :)

Thanks for the advice Andrew

I'll try ringing them up and ordering on the autobahn stormer account.

Diaz said to get my own bits but want to make sure I don't miss something off and waste his time. I thought you needed the big o rings as well as the bolt o rings you mentioned. The six that sit under the plenum (is it the manifold??) they look about 2 inches across from what I've seen but I know next to nothing about cars)

Thanks

Dave

The 6 large 0 rings that seal onto the plenum are probably not necessary as they can be re-used and just benefit from a slight smear of grease to freshen them up abit .

For cam cover gasket replacement you really should only require the parts previously listed.

If Dazzler is coming down he will do a first class job so you will have no worries.Give W.J.Kings a ring and if you get stuck send me a PM and I will order them for you then  :y
