My DTi progress to date
« on: 14 August 2014, 19:10:26 »

This is my project 2.2 DTi. Originally bought this v fine example from vxl v6 for the very generous sum of £180.

Sold as spares repairs due to strange revs issue.

This was traced to slipping clutch. When changed for new clutch kit (DIY) the issue was gone. Now pulls like a trooper.

Had an issue then with the bolt breaking off on its own where aux belt tensioner bolts to engine bracket. Had that oversized and helicoiled, re fitted with thread lock, and a hardened bolt, won't break again. :y

Also fitted a used pas pump as mine failed and leaked everywhere. £30 from a kind Oofer :y

Handbrake issue was a quick free fix, it had come adrift at a rear anchor point

Today put her in for mot early, passed with no advisories :)

Gearbox oil changed and 3x engine oil changes so far to clean it out

Outstanding jobs, glow plugs, coolant tank, full service. She did have a flat spot in first gear which has gone after a strong dose of diesel magic :y

She is taking us on a road trip around Spain from uk and back next month :y

It's a lovely looking car isn't it  :)

The Glow plugs were replaced on it a while back using genuine GM ones if I remember correctly, I think there should be a receipt from Unicar in the paper work for the fitting (I didn't fancy snapping off the originals!  ::)  ;D so got the garage who does all my MOT's to do it!)

I've took the number plate off our caravan and given it to Nitro to give to you (He said he would likely be seeing you soon) so you don't need to buy one should you decide to utilise the towbar  :y

Ahhhh thanks v much for this!

She coughs (and after the cough) smokes a bit from cold, but is fine all day when warm, glow plugs were top of my list but if that recent, i might leave them

Absolutely stunning car, real pleasure to own :y
