Evening guys, one trusts you're all well 

So. After I posted a thread looking for advice on the best cordless impact wrench I chose one......



The tool is expensive (£379 inc. VAT) but as stated in my previous thread I was left some money by my gran so wanted to make some good investments with it.

So, the tool comes with 2 X 18V/3.0AH batteries (fortunately my batteries were upgraded to 4.0AH as they were out of stock of the 3.0AH ones  ). It also comes with a charger with different lights on to indicate at what state the charge is at. It also of course comes with the body also.

The wrench is quite top heavy. I used it two days ago to do my shockers and it did become a bit wearisome with that weight. It also comes with a belt clip which to me is a bit pointless due to the weight of the thing.

However, great news is that the charging time is very short. It went from half battery (as delivered) to fully charged in about 10 minutes!

The power is immense. 110nm Omega wheel bolts.... off in a split second. 

I also undid the lower shock bolts with ease. These are also done up to 110nm but there was a lot of corrosion so I'm thinking they'd be more difficult to undo. EASY 

So, as a verdict expensive but you pays ya money..........

oh and has switch on / off light which I prefer to the light being constantly on

Next, an angle grinder that uses those batteries - for those niggly little jobs like removing exhausts without frustration. I use mine more than I expected to.
And after that, a drill .

Nick, thats a really good point re the angle grinder... didnt realise the batteries were transferable.

Really enjoying using it. if i'd have had just a ratchet and a breaker bar those shocks would have took forever.

As said it is heavy. if i was using it all day...... may get a bit hand heavy. but hey..... i get bigger paws. women like that

Just to add,  was using it for 4 hours on and off. Battery life didnt seem to be affected.

I dont have abything to try it's max. undoing power on the car. Although some of our fences in the back garden are held to a post with 17mm bolts. Might try ascending torques and see what it's really capable of and report back.

The charger also plays a tune when you slide the battery in and when its charged :-)

I have been gradually changing my older DeWalt 18V NiCad stuff to the LXT Makita kit, the batteries do seem to last in the various tools.

(Seriously though, if anyone ever wants to buy me a birthday present, I'll take one of the Makita "sets" with the impact gun and angle grinder..  )

When my £25 Focus own brand cordless drill packed up last year after about 5 years, I treated myself to a Makita and for the money I really havn't been that impressed compared to my old cheapie drill.

Got my 18v cordless from Argos for £20 , its great for removing 4 inch screws
