Power Steering Pump
« on: 21 August 2014, 09:21:14 »

Ok here's a question for you experts.

Which power steering pump should a 2001 2.6 Estate have fitted to it and what's the difference.

Mine currently has the black cast version fitted, but when I got a replacement it was a different model with a silver body. It bolted on the same but the pipe work was different and pumped fluid out all over from the union as it is different on each pump.

Is the black cast an older version?.....does it work as well as what I'm guessing is the newer version and if so can I replace the pipe work with the connector on?

Your car has a newer version of pump, seems as though your replacement is the older. They each need their associated pipework to fit. It'd be be easier to find a new version pump so you can do a like for like swap.
