key fob

Evening all . I have a slight problem with my car the key fob has decided  to stop working .
I have changed  the battery but still not unlock or lock . So every time I use the key to unlock it the alarm goes off .
   Any ideas as it was working ok before.

Try putting the key in the ignition and turning to position 2 then press the lock and unlock buttons a couple of times. That hopefully should sort it.

When you changed the battery did you check the little black immobiliser thingy wasnt disturbed.

two different things. The 'black immobiliser thingy' is as you said for the immobiliser .... it talks to the car to allow the car to start ..... nothing to do with getting in, in the first place.  :y

The battery holder is a known weak point ..... it comes away from the pcb. You can often 'bodge it' by padding the fob case out a little to ensure the battery makes contact.

Given your location, it may be worth having a word with Marks DTM, see if he can solder it in properly. Bits of card/folded paper tends not to work for too long

I also have inherited a non-functional key with my recent purchase.  I fitted a new battery but it made no difference.  As far as I can see there is no little tab to contact the top of the battery.  Is there more than one type of key?  Mine is for a bottom of the range 2.6 from 2001 and has just the two buttons lock and unlock.  Are replacement electronics modules available?  Any help much appreciated.

Contact Martin .. he is an expert on fixing these .. excellent chap who does a fantastic job ... can't praise his work high enough ...
