Also agreed a price to sell with one joker he paid a deposit then rings me a hour later sez he is,nt able to raise sufficent funds to pay for it and will I take £450 less .After picking myself off the floor told him no chance(or summat like that) then he asks when I will return his deposit ,when England win the soccer World cup mate told him .Not sure how I stand regarding  the law in retaining said deposit gave him a recipt for it but did,nt state non refundable dam.  ::) ::) ::)

If you did not make it clear re deposit then you will likely hit some problems in trying to keep it. You could clarify with ebay admin of course.

Not sure if it still the same but had a friend who took £100 deposit through paypal a few years back and the person messed him about and wanted a refund. Paypal wouldn't refund the deposit back even though it was through ebay. Tbh theres not much point in taking a deposit really if it can get it refunded.

Because I ended the listing early and sold to highes bidder which was he it seems I am entitled to keep the deposit as Ebay buyer protection does not cover deposits .So within their rules  OK may still refund his deposit as now sold van for even more minus my fees through Paypal as it will the incure Paypal fees too, all in about £50 might teach him a lesson seems the fair thing to do after all it was his missus who was the one who demanded they bought it the poor fella was just there to pay up (Been there done that)
