Never owned one, but the young owners can be very surprised when the big lard ar$e car they thought they'd leave standing on the slip road of the motor way, will actually launch itself up to silly speed without trying, leaving them behind in its wake!

he means the type r is a very rapid motor fella ! been in a cvic type r and was made to feel quite sick they handle as well as they go !!

Usually I would agree, but with the Recaro seats, white dials and alcantara, I quite like the interior of the Accord Type R

I think it's a bit of a lardy car to have such a peaky engine in. Peak torque at 6700 RPM, peak power at 7200 RPM. Yes, it's quick but you've got to be flaying it all the time to get at the performance.

My brother has a Civic type R which is a hoot, but I just feel you need a light car for an engine with no low down torque.

I initially thought that Kevin, but the Accord is only about 100k heavier than the Civic (and well over 300K lighter than the miggy). It also hase more power and torque than the Civic engine.

Honda bike engine technology over the years has helped cars like the Accord type R give fantastic BHP per litre. Enjoy.

I meant the lad in the type R did quite leave the lard ar$e Omega with me in it for dead quite like he'd expected to.

Get the integra - fantastic car!  Great fun to drive because of the rev range and really good looking but obviously depends what you want the car for.  The reason the interiors are not very inspiring is because the type r's have been stripped of as much weight as possible.

As Torque and BHP are directly linked, the Honda car engine, and all F1 engines attain the high BHP's quoted by the very high rpm's they reach   19000 in the case of an F1 !!

For a given torque, the equivalent power may be calculated. The standard equation relating torque in foot-pounds, rotational speed in RPM and horsepower is:

    P = (T * W)/ 5252

Where P is power (BHP), T is torque (ft lbf), and W is rotations per minute (RPM)

Now my 3.2 miggy is quoted at 213 ft lbf by parkers .

so if I could rev it to 19000 rpm .... (some hope !!)

213 * 19000 /5252 = 770 BHP !!!!!!!!

or Honda RPM's 8000 ish ??  ...

213 * 8000 / 5252 = 322 BHP

It is fairly easy for "advertising" to quote unrealistic figures is what I'm trying to say ..
