Nipped into my local scrappy in my dinnerhour (looked not at all out of place in three-piece suit and tie) hunting for a part-worn tyre. Spotted a couple of Omegas, one's a 2.2, the other probably a 2.6. Missing plenum (and rear engine size badge!  ) etc... but the header tank looked rather white and nice. There are 4 on opelpartsbase but no mention of which engine/year they fit.

Offered it me at initially a fiver, but on checking this turned into £12  just so I'm not wasting the money, can someone confirm that a 2.6/3.2 header tank will fit a 2.5?

If any OOFer can beat that price, I'll get it off here, of course. Alternatively, I can always nip back tomorrow

The scrappers are taking the piss with their prices these days.

£3 would be closer to the mark.

Many of them seem to want 50% of the retail cost for something that is older than Moses.

I rarely use them these days.

Yep. I mean when you're buying on an OOFer, you're often buying a part that that may well have fitted themselves 2 years previous, with a known history of the car etc..

You should have seen the state of that FL which had the header tank. Brake lines corroded through... no, and I mean no paint left on any suspension components, peeling paint on the front bumper. Usual case of clean enough shell, not much rust, with mechanicals left to rot, and then after several years of faultless service, one day a part goes, rings up the stealer, they quote a hundred squillion quid, the owner claims "this car is sh!t", and scraps it. 

That said, not sure if I am being tight - £12 for a nice header tank isn't the earth. Just I'm not looking for cosmetic stuff yet, it's the big boys, suspension, correct idle, bushes, etc I'm trying to get right first, then MoT, then the prettyness.

A new tank with sensor is the thick end of £50, so £12 isn't a bad deal

I think I was being a bit tight, purely because of the mystery price rise, the lad originally quoted me the fiver, which, to be fair was the sort of prices they used to charge. But then the other s-crapyard in town closed down. So then, strangely coincidentally, prices started to rise.....

Yeah £3 would have been about right although i think that was a bit steep in my book 
But its still better than giving stealers your hard earned  £50 for a new one

Depends how old the tank is?

£12 might be acceptable if the tank is 12 months old.

If it's 12 or 13 years old then I would give it a miss.

i dont have any facelift stuff. only 3l long nose plenum & associated bits you wanted.
