Government rebate?

Logged onto my energy supply website this morning, to send them the monthly meter readings....

On the transactions page was a payment made into my account, that said £12, Government Rebate...

Anyone know whats that about???

I had one through the post cause I pay by key meter. Didnt quite understand why we got it but hey ho anything that's a bonus :y

To qoute from letter the sent....

"We're pleased to tell you you're receiving a Government Electricity Rebate for £12 towards your energy usage.
SSE has long supported the case for the cost of Government schemes to be removed from customer bills and funded instead through taxation. We worked with the Government to ensure that this rebate would help reduce customer bills, and we're delighted that this has now been put into practice. You can also look forward to a similar rebate next year"

I also got a £12 rebate letter thingy.... I was quite shocked TBH but I'll spend it wisely :)
