driver electric window not working
« on: 08 November 2014, 16:48:30 »

Hi folks

Driver electric window has stopped working. All the others are working fine. Have wiggled the wiring going into the door as I have read these can break. So I guess faulty switch or motor?

Measure do you have power at the switch, then measure do you have power coming to the motor when pressing switch and if there is power, then feed straight 12V to the window motor and if it remains dead you have your fault :y Always easier to find where power cuts out when you take some measurement points and when power is lost you have some idea in what area is the fault :)

The drivers door switch powers all the windows, so as said either switch itself or motor :-\

Has the doorlock solenoid been replaced recently?

The motors do fail, but reliable enough to use a 2nd hand one. Bit fiddly, as you have to drill out the rivets for the motor, and for the side airbag sensor plate. Rivet gun needed for refit.

Do check for the right signals getting to the motor though, as the FL door switches aren't the most reliable...

Doorlock solenoid hasn't been changed. Will see if power is getting to the switch and motor. Presume the switches just pop out with the help of a screwdriver?

You may damage the finish.

I always remove door card, then push them up from underneath...  ...but its a lot more effort
