2.2 DTI estate exhaust centre section
« on: 28 January 2015, 09:50:34 »

The car I picked up last w/e has virtually no top to the small box roughly under the driver's seat. Is it a silencer or a resonator?  This has a distinct bearing on how I go about replacing it.

Thanks

That's the catalytic convertor, are you sure it's not the outer shell that's flaking off? That's what happened on both the DTi's I had.

Thanks

Definitely not a cat. There's wadding coming off the top of it. I thought the cat was up near the back of the turbo on these.

Hello again. I did not think diesels had catalytic converters, only particulate filters. You mention a 2.2 DTI but your name sign says 2.5 estate. You mention a turbo, so it must be a diesel. I await more posts with interest.
