Coolant Leak
« on: 14 February 2015, 18:47:39 »

Over the last Week ive lost a good pint of coolant... Well last week the coolant was Drained and all new was put in. Think it was the Vx orange stuff that was drained out, And The VX orange stuff is what went back in..So why is my leak...Green ? And can you get a new Drain plug seal.  :-\
This is the only leak i can find..So im presuming this is the only one. And Tap is tightened up ok.

You could try opening the valve to flush out any crud on the seal ,then re-closing might be worth a try

You can buy a new drain plug from the dealer complete with o rings for under a fiver!  :y

However, if your rad is a pattern one a Vx plug might not seal very well.  ::)  My bodge solution was to remove the o rings, cut some very thin strips of insulating tape to fit in the o ring grooves and then refit the o rings on top.  The strips of tape push the o rings out and increase their circumference, making a better seal!  :y

A smear of silicone grease also helps!  :y

Dab it with kitchen roll, you might find it is actually pink...

If it's definitely green it could be leaking from the aircon plumbing about six inches above the drain plug :y

Will get under there and have a good look...If this turns out to be the case,Does that mean the aircon System must be emptied to do the repair  :-\
