Are Nationwide taking the piss?
« on: 17 March 2015, 12:27:31 »

Letter number four dropped on the mat this morning. :-\

Worded exactly the same as the first three. :-\

In thick bold type it proclaimed.........YOUR INTEREST RATE WILL BE CHANGING SOON? Hmmm....changing. Change can be good as well as bad. Perhaps those nice banker types have some good news.  :y

By 'Changing' they mean REDUCING. >:(, So why not say YOUR INTEREST RATE WILL BE REDUCING SOON? Slimy bastards.

E-Savings plus REDUCED by 0.3%

Regular saver REDUCED by 0.5%

MySave REDUCED by 0.4%

15 Year Loyalty saver REDUCED by 0.3%

So you see all you  fat bloated shithead's  at Nationwide, the words REDUCED or REDUCING are not so difficult to find after all.

Predictably, mortgage rates have not been reduced. >:(

be careful what you wish for. Spanish banks are a joke. You get charged handsomely for everything.

I rate the Nationwide. Just pop in and ask them to transfer your moneys to a more up to date account with better interest.

Nationwide doesn't have to cream off money to pay dividends like the listed banks.

I've checked, Mr Varche. They have nothing better to offer. Reductions across the board. :-\

We have our millions stashed away in banks in Spain and in the UK. comes in very handy for paying for stuff locally without incurring currency charges. Once you move to another country it is very hard to open an account in a different country.

Under spanish tax laws you have to declare the interest and for now anything worth more than 50k euros you own abroad e.g. a house, pension annuity (even if not matured yet), bank deposit(s), McLaren P1 etc. Currently we don't get taxed on those. We assume in the future we will!

I remeber a few years ago enjoying (gross) 6.5% with the Barnsley Building Society and many other accounts available that wernt much lower.  Just checked the BBS is now 1.3% Gross and Halifax accounts are paying 0.1 and 0.25% Gross

How times change (sadly for the worst for savers) :-\
