Some Engine Noise...
« on: 14 March 2012, 11:48:01 »

Hi, my omega v6 3.0 (x30xe) sometimes makes a strange noise that comes from the bonnet. It recently started to make a kind of   rrrrr rrrrr noise which gets louder if I accelerate and if I keep accelerating eventually it fades away in matter of seconds. It has a new water pump, timing belt kit, thermostat, driving belt and new tensioners, all of this with 5000 miles only. Sometimes get difficult to fire at first time but second time no problem at all. When cold I can get high smelling gasoline :) anyway if environment temperature is warm it will start with no problems at all. What you folks think about this?

could be fan belt adjuster bearing?

Could be except that the fan is electrical and when it operates no abnormal noise can be heard.
Today has fired really bad by the morning, and then next times fired perfect  >:(
Anyway the noise described could not be heard today :) I've changed the oil maybe could be some valve, lifter or something let's wait to see.

They are in mint conditions... this is very annoying! It seems that comes from the right head of the engine I don't know, but I never had the opportunity to stop the car and try to find the noise :(

No... I've replaced both manifold gasket at one or two years ago maximum.
Well, both rocker covers are leaking a bit... tryed to solve that but stills! I replaced the old rocker covers by gm genuine ones with the reinzosil sealant but the leak still :( I guess that is the only visible leak.

Sorry for this late reply, but I left my little baby in garage in the past two years :(
Now getting back to road after many repairs... the noise still and I suspect that it cames from the gear box...
