moving an elite seat without power
« on: 23 May 2015, 10:19:29 »

Hi All
Got a problem with drivers seat on the breaker. Moved it forward & then back again while clearing the floor about a month ago. Now it won't do anything. No movement at all. No heaters

I Have checked power to main connector block next to seat & there is power on the thicker Red & brown  wires to that point.
Problem is I cannot get to the back 2 bolts to get the seat out to have a closer look. Passenger seat is all A1 working.

I have however removed the clocks panel , centre switches , HU , climate control, and rear view mirror , could this have any effect on the seat seemingly being "powerless"

Bottom line is can the seat be moved manually without power  :-\

Regards, Al :y

Ah . . . found details in the owners manual of how to move seat . thanks Taxi Al :y

What size hex is this then ? . . .  I have a set of metric allen keys but it seems to be between 2 sizes :-\

Presume an allen key is correct  :-\  gonna have another check in the manual :-[ :-[

Got seat moved manually  :y

Having disconnected various electrical items in the climate control area & removed switches, HU & mirror, the drivers seat now seems powerless along with the electrical mirrors not working.
Drivers seat was all working fine , but reluctant to sell if not moving electrically .
Can anyone confirm that it is only not working because of the other electrical items I have removed ?
Passenger seat all works fine though.  Guessing it is something to do with the drivers seat "memory" function   :y
Any help greatly appriciated  :y

Does it work if you plug all 3 mirrors back in?

I think my passenger seat works all the time but the drivers seat (with memory) only moves if the ignition is on. Seems odd if unplugging the mirror switches were to disable the seat though, I would have thought you would need to disconnect the memory ECU to do that  :-\

Only disconnected the rear view mirror of the 3  Nick . . .  reconnected it and still nothing  . . . no seat movement at all and no  door mirror movement. Tried with ignition on & off. Seems strange that there is nothing at all at the seat . must be something to do with dash out & switches etc being disconnected .

Problem I have is I don't want to sell them if this drivers seat is duff. Seems weird that it was all working fine before though :-\

ECU is under seat.  From memory, it needs a few fuses to be in tact, so may be worth checking.

Wondering if you've removed the consumer delay relay and if that matters? :-\

Isn't there a little winder with a square end that fits in the end of the seat motors?

Or is that just for height?
