Here she is...

http://www.makitauk.com/products/cordless-tools/impact-wrenches/all-cordless-impact-wrenches/dtw450z-18v-impact-wrench.html

When looking around for packages inc. batteries look for the 4.0ah ones. Ten mins charging from empty and last forever.

As said yes they are damn expensive. But I was investing. And the batteries you can use on other stuff you may buy in the future (like the impact driver that I'm currently considering )

Sadly the battery wont given such a charging regime  :y

I simply stick it on charge, when it's green light it's done  :y

What Mark means is that if your charger really is doing the business in 10 mins the battery will have a very short lifespan.

My hitachi, TB's Clarke and De Walt, all struggle to undo a 110nm omega wheel bolt, unless the battery is absolutely tip top fully charged. Iirc

If the wheel nut is slightly over torqued or hasn't been off for a good while, mine will likely fail to undo. Fairly sure TB's are similar..?

Point being, this one will most likely need the wheel nuts loosening off first.
The Clarke struggles (claimed 450Nm - so a lot more than the cheaper Clarke 200Nm one, and I suspect the same as original link) with wheelbolts unless just done up fairly recently.  The B&D one does fair better, and usually will eventually undo any wheelbolt....  ....or go flat trying ;D

It'll be fine Webster - Li-ion do not suffer like MiMh or NiCd.  You can charge your batteries as the Makita charger see's fit, and they'll last a good while.

10minutes form flat is a bit sharp though for a 4.0Ah battery.  If it's flat, should be more like 30 minutes.

Cheers mate  :)

Maybe I got the time wrong. Just for the shits and giggles I'll time it tomorrow  :y

Li-ion do suffer the same, to charge a battery in ten minutes from flat at that capacity it will be trying to stick in excess of 24A in! Worse still, such a fast charge will heat the battery up which is a real killer for Li-ion (worse than any other battery technology)

Plus you have the approx. 500 charge ceiling to so always make sure its flat before charging

On a good day with the most modern tech. Tools tend to be less up to date, and the chargers quite poor...

Hitachi charger seems very good to me. Cooling fan, cuts out once charged, short charge is proportionate to the amount of discharge. Plus, I suppose, the proof is in how long the batteries are lasting.

I've spend the last two year eyeing up replacements expecting the batteries to die any minute now. But they just keep plodding on. Power of the impact gun is, afaict, almost exactly the same after each charge, given I always torque wheel nuts to 110nm. The gun always struggles to the exact same level after each undoing.

So I guess the batteries are still in good nic...?

They ain't LiIon, so the charger can be more barbaric (and Hitachi chargers are, having fixed a couple).

Not picking on Hitachi, they are no worse than most others, though with a weakness on the final transistor, and its driving transistor. The fan, I suspect, is to help cool these bipolar devices, and probably a very late addition into the design.

Really? What are they then?

Different charger, perhaps, to the one you saw, possibly.... Just a little bit....? :)

Ok, checked charging time. Hasn't been charged for two weeks and has had at least 6 days of hardcore use.

Took 38 minutes. So a bit off of my 10 minute claim  :-[

Yes, the charger cooling fan is to cool the charger not the batteries.  :y
