Tv reception problems / 4G internet

I got this media centre working reasonably well but have a problem which is doing me piggin head in  >:(

If I record something off the TV, the sound and picture is slightly out of sync by maybe half a second.
Not a problem when your pished  ::)
In fact, the program probably makes more sense but when sober its getting on my tits   ;D
At first, it was just the media contraption but now i'm noticing this on the TV too  >:(

The terrestrial signal isn't the greatest around here but watchable never the less.
Talking about this in the pub yesterday and the conversation turned to that joke firm O2 and the fun they are having trying to get 4G mobile internet working around here.
Apparently, if you have a week signal, 4G can fick your picture up  :-\
Any truth in this or is it just beer talk ??

I had pm'd Tubbs but he has gone into hiding apparently  ::) ;D

The downstairs tv and media contraption signal is running off the same 2 way signal booster if that helps  :-\

Beer talk, whilst RFI does exist, modern Base Station equipment and aerial filtering techniques are pretty good these days.  ;)

If 4G is causing a problem, then I think the phone company will supply a filter to stop it, you can check if a 4g mast has been placed in your area and what the interference is likely to be on this website.

Sky boxes have a setting to delay the audio to match the picture. So is there s setting somewhere?

Rods ................ Thanks for that. Had a quick read and looks like it may be a combination of slightly dodgy signal / using a booster / 4G  :(
Apparently, you can get 1 free filter per household so i'll have a word on Monday morning and see what they say  :)

Chris ............... Never seen anything like that on any of my Tv's / Set top boxes  :-\

Yep. Sound settings. Audio delay or something like that. Adjust by 10 milliseconds. Or so?

Ours is on about 140ms to get it near. So it's not uncommon. Depends on your audio out as well as how it arrives to the box, afaik. :-\

Although what Chris refers to is aimed more for people using AV Amps

Yes the discrepancy is worse with an amp. Due to the extra processing. But we did have a lesser setting of nearer 40ms on our old tube TV with standard speakers.

You mean the AV amp  ::) ;D
I know my TV's not the newest (42" Viera) but I was wondering what the fick you was on about for a minute  ;D
Yes, i've seen that setting before but never had a need to touch it. Maybe, I should watch more TV when sober  ;D

I've got 3 sound outputs setup into the 2 amps.

RCA .......... TV - AV Amp
RCA .......... Media contraption - Hifi amp
Optical ...... Media contraption - AV amp

Don't know if the audio delay setting on the AV amp is across the board or can be setup different with different inputs  :-\
I'll have a play later and see what I can find  ;)
