Hi. Coming home from work tonight on a muddy wet road the 95 Opel omega mv6 suddenly and without warning debeloped multiple errors. The abs light, tc light, airbag light and engine light all came on and stayed on. Automatic gearbox also came up in the display and i had to change gear manually. Also the electric windows goes down smooth but only goes an inch at the time up. All these things happened simoltaneously in a second! Luckily the car kept running the last bit home. On idle everything seems fine, but as soon as i put it in gear and it starts pulling, all the errors comes back. Had about 10 km home, and the lights didnt dim and charging light goes out. So it seems to be charging. Cant understand this.

Sounds very similar to when my alternator went - as said try that or battery

Thanks for the answer guys. You were right. After checking/cleaning/changing several connectors around the battery with no luck i tried the multimeter. Battery read 12,5v with enginge off, but with engine running it showed 19,2v!! Could hear the battery boiling after i shut the engine off. Guess its the regulator in the alternator thats gone. Just hope it hasnt fried anything else. I've got a spare alternator. Its easyiest just to change the whole thing right?

Could refurb 'new' alternator prior to fitting, that way you'll be sure it'll last

Then do same to frazzled one, as a perfect spare...

Job done:) thanks for the help guys. This was actually one of those rare occasions where everything went alot easyer than i thought. Im guessing its due to the car being Left hand drive. Read the guide, but i didnt have to remove the cruise control as it was mounted at the bulkhead far away. Didnt have to go underneat the car either. All bolts came out easy with no trouble and no swearing! Testdrove the car and everything works fine. Seems to be charging around 14,4v.
