Phoned virgin , my contract was up so put my main mobile on 30 day rolling for the same data , 100 mins more calls + texts for £7 less  :o

Then they will send me a new sim for the spare one on payg with £5 + £10 free top up  :o :o

They did try and put me on a new 24 month contract with a Lumia6 or something but i declined  ::)

If you want the phone for occasional calls and texts then GiffGaff allows you to top up as and when required with no time limits, which is what I use it for where I work from home, so I only occasionally need it when I'm out, mainly for receiving calls.
Nope, they cut you off and take your credit if you don't use it for 6 months...

They never have mine. Put £10 on 2.5 years a go and still have just over £2 left. I'm not a big mobile user as I mainly use landline where I'm at home most of the time.

Given you've used £8 of credit in the last 2.5yrs, its likely you have made a call or sent a text at least once every 6 months, which keeps it alive.  Its if you don't use it at all in that time period, it gets cancelled.  I should point out, most operators do this, its not unique to GG

They send you an email telling you you need to make a call or send a text within the next 30 days or the number will expire and you will have to re-register it. :y

I wouldn't rely on the email, given GG's inability to implement technology.  I've certainly fallen foul of it.
