Had a regas done but only lasted a couple of weeks.
The guy said it was the 'dryer' is that expensive to replace?

You need to find the leak,
1st check bottom of condenser.
2nd check both valves
3 rd compressor.

On a 13+ year old car the condenser if original will be a bit pourus, a new condenser is about £80.00 without fitting.

Don,t be enticed by cheap regas offers, a decent aircon service is about 60 quid.

Drier on omega is part of the condenser, new condenser comes with a new drier. The above company supply condenser at a good price and are a proven supplier.

Not on my 3.2 it doesn't  ... I know as I have just changed the drier.. fiddly job but easily doable. Mine had gone porous around the clamp that holds it in place.. was oozing dye under pressure.

Unfortunately did not cure the problem .. now found that the compressor that Mark DTM very kindly supplied free is leaking slowly from the main body seal, air con man thinks the seal may have dried out through lack of use. Now going to go for a new compressor.

it seems that way on first look .... but on closer inspection ...

The condenser was replaced Feb 2013 .. at that point it was 12 years old so had done pretty well considering... the "company" (?) [shysters] who did the work broke the radiator, never changed the filter/drier, and it would appear never added any lubricant to the refrigerant - unproveable but seems likely - which subsequently caused the compressor to fail.

The system was left empty for nearly a year before the replacement from MarkDTM was fitted, this had had the bearings replaced in the clutch unit, but had been on the shelf for some considerable while I believe. On filling the system the aircon guy commented that the output from the compressor was very good for a refurbed unit.

IMHO it would seem that the high output pressure, the age of the filter/drier (14 years ??) and the fact it was left empty for so long, all contributed to the filter/drier corrosion problem.

The body seal leakage is just one of those things from using an "old" unit, I'm grateful to MarkDTM for his efforts .. he had no way of knowing the seals had dried.

It's cost me no more than buying a new compressor straight up would have ..as the filter/drier leak would have occurred anyway... the only hassle will be I will have to change the compressor this time .. instead of getting Daz to do it as part of the cambelt change !!

At the end of the day all the bits are "consumables" in one form or another !!

I had a chat with biggriffin a couple of years ago at the Wycombe meet on this very subject and his advice was sound as a pound. ..condensor first all three of mine were fubared...rotted out along the bottom,all changed and A/C now works as it was intended Now just need some decent weather to use it

Hopefully true .. but it was SO much easier watching Daz do it .... 

Just wish it would stop bloody raining so I can investigate these damn ABS/TC lights ...
