Yes Mate, it is a 2003 Vectra 2.2 Elegance, up 'til beginning of this year I had a 2.2 Omega CD and made the big mistake of trading that in for a 1.6 Ford focus, due to trying to save a bob or two on tax , petrol etc, but have to say the Focus isn't as economical as I thought it would be and there's several things that annoy the hell out of me with it and has been in for warranty work several times in the short space of time I've had it and one issue they can't resolve (nothing wrong with it Sir, they all do that!!) and all the dealers I've been to say the same and I know it's not right as I know of others that don't have the same problems, so had enough of it and saw this Veccy and thought , sod it!! I've mostly had Vx's since god knows when ,so feel like I'm coming home as it were (how sad is that eh!)

Not sad at all mate, brand loyalty is sooo much more common than anyone thinks, we are all creatures of habit! We shop at the same supermarket, listen to the same music, drink the same drinks, so buying a car from a brand you feel comfortable with is just natural.

You know most vauxhalls will be fairly cheap to run and maintain, dealers are widespread and there (hopefully!) won't be any nasty surprises.

Though I would say, when the new Vauxhall Insignia comes out I think there will be nice number of used vectras coming onto the market. Not to mention the fact that there are already a nice few veccys which are traded as fleet cars, have covered all motorway mileages and have followed correct service schedules, not skimped on maintainence etc.

I would also buy the best spec you can, you deserve it after having put up with a focus for so long!  ;D The Elite vectras are fairly well specced with all the toys.

The only thing that springs to mind with the 2.2, which has been talked about on here before, there was a recall on the timing chain if you are looking at any earlier (2001?) cars, it maybe worth a quick message to Mr MarksDTM to get the lowdown on the motor in general.

Good luck  :y

Cheers mate, you're right about the timing chain issues already investigated that one and apparently checking mine , it did seem to be an issue upto 2002 , but have heard of other guys with later ones having the problem, so will have to keep a close ear on it for any unusual noises etc.

Had a bit of a result today, spoke to the sales manager at the dealership and explained that I wasn't happy about the fact that the car was advertised as a network Q car suggested to him in a fairly polite manner!! that it would be a good idea to supply it with a network Q warranty due to advertising and all that !! and has agreed to it, so a bit happier about the sale now , oh and got them to throw in 6 months tax in the process.

Nice to know Pete that all worked out well in the end; often you do have to push the stealers hard to get what you are really entitled to! ;D ;D ;)
