All the fettling that James May did on TG was obviously lies. He's like an untrained chimp when handling something as simple as a screwdriver.

It was the put the bolt/nut on the tailgate bit that made me laugh.. think he went in there twice and screwed the job up

He was supposed to screw it up, but he couldn't manage it.  ;D

I did a work test for Nissan years ago when they were building bluebirds , did the job ok , but they said they were reluctant to take people on from the construction industry on as they couldn't stand the boredom ! heard plenty of stories of people walking out mid-shift as they got sick of the monotony  :(

I spent two years building rear axles for the viva at Ellesmere Port, it is very boring. But, as there were four of us (one each side building alternate axles) we learned to have a laugh and the shift passed pretty quickly.
That was 9 hour night shifts btw.
Plus, as you got more proficient, you could ask the foreman to turn the track up and knock your score out with about two hours to spare. But waiting round to clock off was even worse than working. The tiredness doesn't hit until you stop working.

I actually quite like James May programs, but I would've told him to opps off out the way when he was pretending to hold up the line....
