Well today was mainly spent stripping down the nearside brake disc / caliper / Drive flange / stub axle / drive shaft & finally swivel housing. Why oh why do car companies make things so hard. Not 1, not 2, not even 3 but 4 different types of nut / bolt combination - torx, star hex & them other multi pointed thingies that I can never remember the name of  ::) ::) ::) I wouldn't mid but in essence they're all the same size, nothing like making it hard for DIYers  >:( >:( >:( >:( Can they not be uniform and stick to one sort  ::) ::) ::)

Just be thankful that the swivels aren't on a Discovery 2,they are a real bastard without special tools

Ah the joy of a Land Rover, the constant knowledge there is something that needs to be done to it and because they have been built for so long, they will require a million different tools as you disassemble, layer by layer, parts developed in different decades.

Just think of the expertise you're gaining Jason. Land Rover experts are in short supply, you may have to get a bigger shed and grow a beard.  ;D

Mines a V8 but, I was gonna Gas it but thinking about it I don't think I'll use it enough to warrant it seeing as its a second car. By the time I've finished it (probably spring next year) I'll have done - Springs & shocks, poly bushed, brake pipes, discs & pads, Both heads, new camshaft, lifters etc.. quite a lot of rewiring  ::) leather seats dyed black, dash to match.

Then I decide whether to get the welder to the bloody sunroofs or not  :o :o :o

The gearbox is becoming a little bit annoying, I know what the fault is, its the input shaft to the transfer box thats worn and giving a little (for now) clunk between forward & reverse gears. I can live with that until it decides to die though as they can I believe go on like that for years & miles, thats why I want an old knackered one to play with.
