Hello

I am reassembling the inlet to sandwich plate. I already tightened the 12 sandwich bolts to heads. 20 Nm is understandable when tightening bolts to aluminium heads. When I tighten inlet bolts 6 pc to sandwich plate is the torque really 20 Nm as well. I wonder it as the sandwich plate seems to be some kind of plastics and I am afraid that the brass "nuts" I see start to rotate inside this plastic. Please help.

20Nm is the figure I have always used when reassembling mine.

I cannot remember how many times (over the last 15 years with two different cars) - I haven't had a problem yet.

20Nm isn't very much! Try it with a torque wrench; you'll be surprised at just how 'loose' it feels. Most small bolts are massively overtightened as a result.

Thanks for confirmation, sure 20 Nm is not a high value - approximately 2 kg mass with one meter long lever. I go back to garage and do it. Just thinking the materials differences here. Thanks again.

Snug and a touch more for me.

You can torque every single bolt if you want but as long as you know you're tightening in to plastic I usually find snug 'plus a touch' is good for me.

Berate me. I don't care  :P ;D
