They will possibly issue a cheque for the wage, but the BACS system should have flagged up that the bank details are wrong and the wage wouldn't have been paid into any account...

But they won't tell you/your wife that she hasn't been paid...

No you shouldn't do as they are obliged to oay her for the work she has done....

They will probably issue a cheque, or if its early enough and they are informed it could still be paid by BACS system with the correct details..

It happened to me once (albeit not through an agency) and I got paid the day after I was supposed to... Think she may have until 11:59AM today to try and sort it, but it is Friday and the next working day is Monday, so might be sorted by then... but don't get your hopes up...

Im only going from past experience and the laws may have changed but the principle is the same ....

Account numbers include a check digit which means that a miss print or simple error results in a null account number hence, the money wont have gone to the wrong person (and if it does, get a lottery ticket!)

That's only if the money has been sent to the wrong account. Remember, names count for nothing, it's only the numbers that count.

I've been given duff account details to pay people in the past. What I've seen is the money disappear (as if the payment was successful) then bounce back in a day or two, sometimes it takes a week though. When I say bounce back, it gets credited to my account.

So I would expect the employer to wait for the money to come back then pay it again into the correct account. They won't be notified, it will just turn up in the account and be visible on the statement. So to speed things along you may have to remind them every day or so until the money comes back.
