Computer query
« on: 25 November 2015, 19:10:50 »

If I type ebay.co.uk into search bar up comes a list of related searches. If I then click on one of these the screen goes blank for a second or so then a square appears in middle of screen saying something about explorer not working,if I then click on little x at top right corner of box this disappears and a little band appears top of screen saying blank page click on little x at end of band and a longer band then appears at bottom of screen, click on little x at end of this and that disappears and list of related searches reappears.Click on the one I selected first time and bingo I'm onto e-bay!This happens on other sites-gumtree,amazon etc.Yet if I type in omega owners forum and click on the appropriate one from related searches I get straight on here,no messing,so why does it happen with such as e-bay?

rebuild. no point pissing about, as its only a desktop.

Most likely a wayward plugin...  ...possibly malicious, maybe not. Either way, not worth risk.

Usual advice follows, use another computer to change all online passwords, and keep eye for suspicious activity

Out of curiosity, why are you using a search bar?

If you are typing ebay.co.uk, why not do it properly and type 'www.ebay.co.uk' in the address bar?

I suspect your 'Search' Bar is a third party plug-in which has been installed.  Notorious for causing all sorts of problems.

Download and install FireFox, then install the AdBlock+ plug-in.  You'll never browse the web with anything else, ever again!

I wouldn't recommend FF for non savvy users, MS browsers integration with Windows Update makes it the preferred choice...   ...but leave the plugins disabled!
